Finca Comunitaria La Florida

Finca Comunitaria La Florida (SCIDECO) is a collectively run community of former landless campesinos, who won their right to land after a struggle lasting for more than 20 years. Today they work together to produce organic coffee, honey, chocolate, banana, and more... Although proud owners of their own land, the people of La Florida still live in poverty. Through the Communitarian Ecotourism Project they aim to improve their basic living conditions, develop the community and provide their children with a better future.

For visitors and volunteers the Project offers a possibility to participate in the life of a collective community, practice their Spanish skills, learn about the process of Fair Trade coffee production and experience the beauty of the surrounding nature – to mention a few.
